Copper Powders

We are a specialist supplier of copper powders in a range of particle sizes and shapes which meet specific technical requirements such as Apparent Density and Purity.

Copper Powders Technical Description

Copper powders are manufactured by water-atomising, air-atomising or by electrolysis to give irregular, spherical and dendritic morphologies respectively. Properties and, therefore, uses vary with particle shape / size / surface area and by carefully selecting the correct grade, copper powders find applications in diverse markets and technologies.

Our copper powders are characterised by:
  • High purity of copper powder
  • Low lead (Pb) content
  • Good reproducibility batch after batch
  • Available in a variety of UN-approved packaging options including 25kg sacks, steel drums (25-180kg) and Big Bags (250, 500, 1000kg).
Copper Usage & Applications

Copper powders are used in very many applications, markets and technologies by virtue of the diverse range of physico-chemical properties. The Density and Melting Point of copper powders make them an ideal choice for blending with iron powder for pressed and sintered components as well as for sintered brake parts.

Other properties of copper powders such as electrical and thermal conductivity, morphology, chemical reactivity and alloying possibilities give rise to their use in catalysis, anti-fouling paint, conductive oils and greases, alloying with other metals, carbon brushes, resin-bonded brake parts, thermal management, electro-magnetic radiation shielding for electronic devices, surface engineering and diamond tooling, and many more.

An emerging technology making use of copper’s unique properties is the control of infection due to its anti-microbial activity.

Production of Electrolytic Copper Powders

1 | Electrolysis

By electrolysis we produce dendritic copper powders: Thereby due to process parameters and preparation we can offer a wide range of different grades from light apparent density (AD) (0,7 g/cm3) up tp heavy grades (3,0 g/cm3).

2 | Washing Process and Drying

Important for good quality of the powder is the treatment after electrolysis., e.g. washing process and drying. Hereby we use highly sophisticated process techniques which have been mostly developed inhouse. Steady process control and process development enables us to keep production at its most modern and efficient.

3 | Homogenisation and QC

Blending and homogenisation in double-cone blenders and strict quality control guarantee constant superior quality of our -products. Due to customer related testing plans we can adjust the products exactly to the needs of each customer. Shipment only can take place after ok from quality control.
